Garage lighting was provided by a combination of high-pressure sodium,
T12 fluorescent and incandescent lamps. Glare made driving down the main aisle
uncomfortable, while the space on the sides seemed dark. Colours were distorted to the point
where it was difficult to identify one’s car. |

This is an unimproved photo of the same garage - not repainted! We
redesigned the lighting using current technology: high colour rendering index (CRI) T8
fluorescent lamps with electronic ballast. The garage feels spacious and safe. We
improved lighting while achieving significant energy savings. |
